The word on everybody's lips in the PS3 circles these last few days has been Belzar....oh and 'I think it's a fake' if that can be counted as a word.... I have been following this news with a healthy dose of scepticism over the last week or so. At first I thought perhaps this Belzar mob were an underground group coming out with the holy grail, a chip that would not only allow the playback of backup Blu-Ray games on the PS3, but magically, offer backwards compatibility with PS2, and firmware upgradeability. However a series of comedic errors over the last few days have seen their demise (at least in the eyes of the hopeful): Firstly, a claim that 50 chips had been sent out to beta testers, including a website owned by the owner of the Belzar.com website. Second, the associated website published the bizarre news that Sony were working on a PS4 and would announce it's release date soon (C'mon the slim isn't even in most stores yet!) Third, and this is the ultimate shot in the foot, the website belzar.com (no link from this website that's for damn sure) is currently parked 'for sale' with SEDO. for a measly 5,000 pounds you can own this 'high traffic' (read: traffic gained through lies). Well, reader, I did try to purchase this site, for the grand sum of 1 Pound, however my bid was not high enough. Well, unfortunately I don't value the domain at more than about a Pound, so I'm going to let this one go!!! I for one will continue to watch with interest on the PS3 modding scene, as a lover of all things modded, and no doubt we will have the wool pulled over our eyes again. But if this has spurred any developers even in the least, perhaps we can pull that much good news out of this decidedly bad news story. Long live the PS3, please don't hurry on the PS4.... I am still waiting for ultimate gaming satisfaction (read: FFXIII & GT5) on the current iteration! |
